REVIEW – Super Cyborg

Do you want a new Contra game? Well, look no further! Super Cyborg is exactly what you want from a run-and-gun gaming experience. The old saying “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” can describe what this game accomplishes. Watch the trailer for just a taste of what thia game has to offer.

The story is simple, you are an elite battle cyborg, who is sent in to investigate a series of anomalies on a mysterious island. To be honest, though, I didn’t play this for the story; it was the tough-as-nails difficulty and watertight controls that hooked me. They are very simple, if you’ve played Contra; it’s the same with an added charge mechanic to your gun. There are a lot of different weapons, even hidden ones throughout the levels to help you eradicate the aliens.

The crisp-looking modern-retro styled graphics brings this gem to life! While playing, it felt like I was warped back to the 90’s playing a Super Nintendo game. Even the radical music compliments the action on screen, thanks to Darkman007. So whatever knuckle clenching action is happening on screen, you better believe the music will get you pumped.

My time with this game was an absolute blast! The difficulty might scare some people off, but there is an easy mode to get you better aquatinted for normal mode. Although, there is a surprise if you can beat the game on normal. If you’re seriously yearning for some old school run-and-gun action that is not forgiving, then give Super Cyborg a try. You won’t regret it.

Pros
+ Modern retro graphics
+ Watertight controls
+ Killer soundtrack

Cons
– Difficulty might scare some
– No excuse to play this
