Nintendo Reveals E3 2017 Plans

Over the last several years, Nintendo has done its own thing for E3. While they still participate, they have gone away from the traditional press event in favor of online events, public tournaments, and more. Last year, as you may recall, they even changed up their booth approach, only bringing one game in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

They just revealed their plans for E3 2017, and as expected, they will be doing something different, yet again:

  • Nintendo Spotlight: On June 13 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time, an online video will go live, which will showcase 2017 Nintendo Switch games, including Super Mario Odyssey.
  • Nintendo Treehouse Live: After the Nintendo Spotlight video finishes on June 13, you can watch Treehouse members and developers play and talk about the games live.
  • Live Tournaments: On June 13 and 14, Nintendo will host tournaments for Splatoon 2 and ARMS at their E3 booth.

You will be able to watch most/all of this at http://e3.nintendo.com.

E3 2017 will also be the first time Super Mario Odyssey will be playable by the public. As of now, Nintendo has not revealed any information about opportunities for others to play games at Best Buy, like they have done in past years. We can only hope they will announce that at a later date.

“Our various E3 activities will showcase the next steps for Nintendo Switch, from a summer of social competitive gaming to a holiday season highlighted by a milestone Mario adventure,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO, Nintendo of America. “With Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3, fans at home can watch in-depth gameplay of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS games launching this year.”

Between the tournaments, spotlight video, and Treehouse Live, what do you think about Nintendo’s E3 2017 plans? Let us know in the comments!
