The marquee Nintendo first-party studio has released financial reports for their last fiscal year. It was a successful one.
Monolith Soft, best known for the Xenoblade series and their assistance on internal Nintendo games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon has reported a huge profit for their last fiscal year, ending March 2021. According to Japanese business site, GameBiz.Jp, Monolith made approximately 1,171 million yen, a 138.2 % increase from the previous year which was 491 million. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition released during this fiscal year, the game which the company said contributed to these results. It’s worth noting they also assisted on the development of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Xenoblade being so popular for the company shouldn’t be too surprising. Last year, we reported that the series surpassed 5 million sales overall.
