Is Nintendo planning something for the Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary?
Nintendo has recently filed a new trademark for the Legend of Zelda series. The trademark is specifically for the overall IP when it comes to merchandise, such as shampoo, toys, and pillows, but also “game programs.”
This led to a strong indication that Nintendo may be preparing for 2021 which marks the 35th anniversary of the series. A Twitter user shows evidence that Nintendo also filed a similar trademark for the Super Mario series last year. This Super Mario trademark also ties into what news and insider sources are indicating when it comes the supposed 3D Mario remasters that Nintendo is planning for this year (Super Mario’s 35th Anniversary).
The first Legend of Zelda game released in 1986 on the Famicom Disk System before making its way to the west in 1987 on the NES. The most recent Legend of Zelda games have been 2017’s critically-acclaimed Breath of the Wild and the 2019 remake of the beloved Link’s Awakening. What other Zelda products new or old could Nintendo be planning to release on the Nintendo Switch to celebrate?
