Nintendo Switch continues its streak of being the best-selling hardware for the month as we head into E3 month.
For hardware, according to Matt Piscatella of NPD, Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware platform in both units and dollars during the month of April, as well as 2021 year to date. Interestingly, Matt also mentions that April video game hardware dollar sales fell 30% when compared to April 2020, to $296 million.
For software, MLB: The Show 21 was the #1 selling game for April 2021. In terms of Nintendo-published software, New Pokémon Snap was the top-selling at #3, despite releasing on April 30. The rest of the Top 20 for Nintendo is as follows: Mario Kart 8 is at #10, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury at #13, Animal Crossing: New Horizons at #15, Super Mario 3D All-Stars at #16, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at #17, Pokemon Sword and Shield at #19, and LOZ: Breath of the Wild at #20.
Third-party software for Switch includes Mortal Kombat XI at #6, Monster Hunter Rise at #7, and Minecraft at #14.
