After a weak January, Nintendo Switch is back on top for hardware.
Matt Piscatella of NPD revealed that Switch was number one in hardware sales for the month in both units and dollars; however, PS5 leads in dollar sales year-to-date for the year. Last month, Switch had ranked third in hardware sales. Overall, hardware sales fell 27% when compared to February 2021 due to the continued semiconductor and chip shortage.
For software, Elden Ring took the #1 spot for the Top 20 of February 2022; however, Pokemon Legends: Arceus remains on the chart at #3. The rest of the Top 20 is as follows for Nintendo-published software: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #8, Mario Party Superstars at #12, Animal Crossing: New Horizons at #13, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at #14, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl at #18, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at #20.
Third-party Switch software includes FIFA 22 at #9, Minecraft at #10, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition at #16, and NBA 2k22 at #17.
