Nintendo Switch is once again the best-selling console of the month with a streak of 30 months.
For hardware, the NPD group reports that Nintendo Switch was the best-selling platform of May in terms of both units and dollar sales. Also, total consumer spending on video game hardware and accessories was up three percent year-over-year to $4.5 billion, with year-to-date spending up 17 percent to $24 billion.
For software, the top-selling game of the month was Resident Evil Village; however, the top-selling Nintendo-published game was New Pokemon Snap at #4. The rest of the Top 20 for Nintendo is as follows: Mario Kart 8 at #6, Animal Crossing: New Horizons at #8, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury at #12, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at #13, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at #18, and Pokemon Sword & Shield at #19.
Third-party software for Switch includes Mortal Kombat XI at #5, Minecraft at #9, and Monster Hunter Rise at #17.
