After months of speculation, Nintendo has finally unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 — and it’s packed with features that push the hybrid console concept even further. Launching June 5, 2025, the system is priced at $449.99, with a Mario Kart World bundle available at $499.99.
A Bold Leap in Hybrid Gaming
The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch full HD display, brand-new Joy-Con 2 controllers with mouse functionality, magnetic attachments, and enhanced portability with a freely adjustable stand.
Under the hood, players can expect faster processing, higher graphical fidelity, and 4K support when docked. A second USB-C port now allows charging while in tabletop mode, and the system boasts 256 GB of internal storage—eight times more than the original.
GameChat Changes the Way You Connect
Nintendo’s new GameChat feature introduces voice and video chatting with up to 12 friends—no extra apps or smartphones needed. Players can screen share, plug in a compatible USB-C camera (sold separately), and chat directly from their Switch 2 systems.
Even better? GameChat will be free until March 2026. After that, it will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Built for Everyone
The Switch 2 adds accessibility features like adjustable font sizes, speech-to-text options, and a built-in screen reader. GameShare allows one person with a game to invite others to play locally or online—even if they don’t own the game. And the new Virtual Game Card system makes lending and borrowing digital games possible for the first time.
Day One Game Lineup is Massive
Nintendo is delivering one of its most ambitious launch lineups ever. From brand-new titles to upgraded versions of beloved games, the Switch 2 is ready to hit the ground running.
