Good news for Pokémon GO players looking to get the competitive edge in gym battles! The game has been updated to Version 0.35.0 on Android and 1.5.0 for iOS with Pokémon Appraisal, a feature that tells you some previously hidden information about your team members. Take a look at what has changed:
Yes, Team Instinct, Mystic, and Valor’s leaders have finally been put to work! They’ll let you know just how much potential your Pokemon has in terms of Attack, Defense, and HP. This potential comes in the form of Individual Values (IVs), of which each stat (Attack, Defense, HP) is assigned a number from 0 and 15. Ever wondered why some Pokémon are better in battle than others, even within the same species and with the same CP value? Now you know the answer: IVs!
Team Leaders will provide you with two types of IV information: how high they are overall, and which stats are highest. Check out the tables below for more information.
This table shows how high your IVs are overall. For example, if the sum of its IVs is 80% of 45 (a maximum of 15 in each of the three stats summed together), then it is in the “Very High” range and is very well-suited to battle.
Range | Spark (Instinct) | Blanche (Mystic) |
Candela (Valor) |
Very High (80-100%) |
“Overall, your Pokémon looks like it can really battle with the best of them!” | “Overall, your Pokémon is a wonder! What a breathtaking Pokémon!” | “Overall, your Pokémon simply amazes me! It can accomplish anything!” |
High |
“Overall, your Pokémon is really strong!” |
“Overall, your Pokémon has certainly caught my attention.” |
“Overall, your Pokémon is a strong Pokémon. You should be proud!” |
Above Average |
“Overall, your Pokémon is pretty decent!” |
“Overall, your Pokémon is above average.” |
“Overall, your Pokémon is a decent Pokémon.” |
Below 50% (Average) | “Overall, your Pokémon has room for improvement as far as battling goes.” |
“Overall, your Pokémon is not likely to make much headway in battle.” |
“Overall, your Pokémon may not be great in battle, but I still like it!” |
Next, your Team Leader will tell you if one (or more) of your stats has a particularly high IV, and if so, which one. If they mention that all three are very high, then you have a Pokémon with perfect IVs!
Range | Spark (Instinct) | Blanche (Mystic) | Candela (Valor) |
Max (15) | “Its stats are the best I’ve ever seen! No doubt about it!” | “Its stats exceed my calculations. It’s incredible!” | “I’m blown away by its stats. WOW!” |
High (13-14) | “Its stats are really strong! Impressive.” | “I am certainly impressed by its stats, I must say.” | “It’s got excellent stats. How exciting!” |
Medium (8-12) | “It’s definitely got some good stats. Definitely!” | “Its stats are noticeably trending to the positive.” | “Its stats indicate that in battle, it’ll get the job done.” |
Low (0-7) | “Its stats are all right, but kinda basic, as far as I can see.” | “Its stats are not out of the norm, in my opinion.” | “Its stats don’t point to greatness in battle.” |
Good luck catching the best Pokémon out there!
