Grab the goat as fast as you can! That’s the main concept behind this fast-paced party game on the Wii U eShop called Toto Temple Deluxe. Now, before you start moving on to another website, please hear me out that this is actually a game you may want on your system. Yes, the concept is really random, but it can also create some amazing and fun times with your friends and family.
Toto Temple Deluxe is a small collection of action-based mini games that either involve a goat or a bomb. In the ones that involve the goat, your job is to hold onto the goat as long as possible. If the game involves the bomb, your goal is to collect the bomb and blow up the other players. Meanwhile, everyone else has the same goal as you, which creates a ton of chaos and fun.
Your character is controlled by the control pad or analog stick on whatever controller you choose. As you move around each single-screen map, you can also attack and shield using corresponding buttons. Attacking allows you to fly across the screen, which is the way you will steal the goat or bomb from your opponents. You can shield some attacks, but the real goal is to stay far enough away from others so they will not steal the goat or bomb.
The simple controls allows almost anyone to jump into the game. Once you get comfortable, though, you will develop your own strategy. The cool thing is that the game always changes, depending on who you are playing against, the chosen map, and the type of game you are playing. So, even though it is simple to play, it is never the same game twice.
I only wish there were some additional types of games. Essentially, you can play every person for him/herself, or you can play in teams for two-on-two games with either the goat or bombs. It would have been nice to have a couple other modes or even the option for more players (Runbow allows for nine players). An online function would have been nice too for those times you do not have friends over to play at your house. Similarly, there is not much of a reason to play the game on your own. It really is a multiplayer game at its core, and that’s where it shines.
Toto Temple Deluxe is what local multiplayer is all about — fun! Yes, there are some minor aspects, but the overall product is very strong. This is one of my current go-to games when I am together with friends or family. If you’re looking for a fun party game, look no further than Toto Temple Deluxe. Go grab the goat now from the Wii U eShop!
