If The Night Before Christmas was really about the Nintendo Switch

Reddit user sirjeal has remastered “The Night Before Christmas” poem into one about the Nintendo Switch.

It includes such epic lines like: “People were waiting at PC’s, clutching their mouse; Streamers were ready, their screens flashing with care, In hopes that Nintendo’s Switch would be there; ”

Yes, the hype is getting very real with the Nintendo Switch broadcast going live tomorrow night.  Quoted the full text below for your enjoyment:

‘Twas the night before Switchmas, when all through the house

People were waiting at PC’s, clutching their mouse;

Streamers were ready, their screens flashing with care,

In hopes that Nintendo’s Switch would be there;

Some gamers were nestled all snug in their beds;

While visions of Switch games danced in their heads;

Brother in his gaming chair, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our hype for a long winter’s nap,

When out of speakers there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.

Away to the screen I flew like a flash,

Ignoring trolls in chat who were just like trash.

Kimishima on the breast of Nintendo’s show,

Gave a lustre of preparedness to objects below,

When what to my wondering eyes did appear,

A Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild deer,

With Miyamoto so lively and quick,

I just knew this was going to be slick.

More rapid than eagles, game announcements they came,

Bill Trinen whistled, shouted, and called them by name:

“Now, Zelda! Now, Metroid! Now, Fire Emblem!

On, Pikmin! F-Zero! And Skyrim will join them!

To the top of Twitter! To the top of the wall!

Now search away! Search away! Search away all!”

As preorders after the event fly,

Some meet with out of stock, making them cry;

Up and down the area consumers flew,

Searching for the Nintendo Switch that they knew-

And then, in a trundling, I heard on the roof

Something that sounded not at all like a hoof.

As I leaned back, and was turning around,

Down the chimney Reggie came with a bound.

He was dressed in a suit, from his head to his feet,

Yet his clothes were still clean, and rather quite neat.

A bundle of games he had flung on his back,

His body was ready just opening his pack.

His eyes- how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

Like pictures online, his mouth was drawn up like a bow,

Where all of his teeth were clearly white as snow;

A Nintendo Switch he held tight in his hand,

Before he set it down, using it’s kickstand;

He had a broad face and a little round belly

That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

He was jolly and plump, a right ready old self,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

Four words he only spoke, then went straight to work,

And powered on the Switch; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his plane, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he flew out of sight-

“Happy Switchmas to all, and to all a good night!”
