The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Localized and Releasing in July

The Ace Attorney prequels that were once exclusive to Japan will finally make their way to western shores on July 27, 2021.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is a compilation of the two Dai Gyakuten Saiban (or Great Ace Attorney) 3DS games that take place in Great Britain, during the late 19th century during Japan’s Meiji Period and London’s Victorian era. The story focuses on Ryunosuke Naruhodo, the ancestor of the Ace Attorney protagonist, Phoenix Wright.

The series creator had a message for the fans:

There will be 10 cases and eight additional mini-episodes filled with a zany cast of
over-the-top characters – including local ace detective Herlock Sholmes. There will also be an art gallery and auditorium (sound test), along with bonus content that
was previously released as DLC content or through special events in Japan.

The two Great Ace Attorney games originally released for the 3DS in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Many have speculated that the major inclusion of “Herlock Sholmes” caused rights and licensing issues with localizing the games for the west.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will release for Nintendo Switch at retail and digital for $39.99 on July 27, 2021.
