If you love Splatoon 2 as much as me, you will be excited to hear this game is just about to get even better thanks to its two free updates coming out very soon.
The first update will roll out November 23rd and adds a new stage for Salmon Run, new gear, new hairstyles for your Inkling, as well as other features that fix several problems with gameplay.
Four New Battle Stages: Yes, you read that right, four! Although they won’t all be available right at the time of updating. They will be spread out throughout the following weeks. We are getting two brand new maps, Mako Mart, which is a giant superstore-style stage on Nov. 24. What better place to go splatting on Black Friday than a store. Shellendorf Institute, which looks like a museum-like stage, as well as two returning maps from Splatoon, Walleye Warehouse (which was one of my favorites in Splatoon), and Arowana Mall, will all be released over the next few weeks.
New Salmon Run Stage: One of my favorite things to do in Splatoon 2 is to play Salmon Run and on Nov 23rd Salmonoid Smokeyard, will be added to the rotation of maps. Another map for those of us who enjoy the teamwork aspect of stealing eggs from Salmon in Splatoon 2.
New Gear: Approximately 140 pieces of gear are being added to Splatoon 2. New shoes, headgear, and clothes so you can be the freshest looking Inkling in Inkopolis. There will even be some winter gear, just in time for the cold weather.
New Hairstyles: We are getting four new hairstyles to choose from, two each for female and male characters. I am really liking the spiked mohawk buzz cut, although it does look painful, but glad to have more options there too.
Higher Level Caps: Currently you are maxed out at Level 50, but after downloading the update you can reach level 99. If you go talk with Judd after reaching Level 99, you’ll have the option to reset and have your level display as Level *1 so you can continue after reaching that even. So the desire to level up, even more, keeps you coming back for more, thanks, Splatoon 2.
Convenient Gear Swapping: If you want to change gear between battles, you will not have to exit the lobby anymore! This means you can play with the same people and also change your gear at the same time. I love this feature, as it was a little bit of a waste of time to go out of the match just to change your gear.
There will also be new music, and more amiibo functionality coming to Splatoon 2 with this update.
The second update will be arriving mid-December. This update will include a new game mode called, Clam Blitz! In Clam Blitz, you will be competing to throw clams into the other team’s basket. The team that reaches 100 first wins. The baskets are protected by a barrier that you have to destroy first and don’t get splatted while you are carrying clams, as the other team will be able to steal them from you. It sounds like a lot of fun and one that I can’t wait to try!
Are you happy with the updates coming to Splatoon 2? What are you most excited about? Happy Splatting!
