The announcement of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has brought news that fans will have to wait a “bit longer” before Nintendo can provide news on the highly anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, without context, could potentially garner confusion among fans waiting for the sequel to Breath of the Wild. Luckily, during its six-minute reveal longtime Zelda producer did provide a small status update for those anticipating Breath of the Wild 2.
Eiji Aonuma states, at the 16-second mark, “We mentioned in the June 2019 Nintendo Direct presentation that we had started development on the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild… Regarding the sequel, in order to make the vast world you’ve enjoyed exploring in the original game even more impressive, the team is working hard on its development. So you’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can provide more updates.” It seems that the Breath of the Wild sequel is still a way off in the future, but fans can get their fill with a Hyrule Warriors prequel.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 20, 2020.
Dave’s first Nintendo platform was the GameCube when he was age 7; however, he was introduced to Nintendo through Duck Hunt on NES.
