After Nintendo confirmed a strong October for hardware sales, it’s to time talk software.
Matt Piscatella of the NPD group announced that consumer spending across video game hardware, content and accessories reached $3.8 billion in October 2020 which is 14% higher compared to a year ago. The group also confirms that Nintendo Switch had higher revenue in this October than the Wii did in October 2008.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit was the best-selling Nintendo-published game and FIFA 21 was the best-selling game overall; however, nine of the Top 20 games of the month were Nintendo-published. The games were in order: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit (#5), Super Mario 3D All-Stars (#6), Animal Crossing: New Horizons (#7), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (#11), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (#15), Ring Fit Adventure (#16), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (#17), Super Mario Party (#19), and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (#20). Keep in mind that Nintendo does not give digital sales to NPD.
The NPD group also gave us the Top 10 list for the Nintendo Switch platform.
