Unsurprisingly, the Nintendo Switch took the crown as best-selling hardware, ending off the year.
The Switch was revealed to be the best-selling videogame hardware in units and dollar sales of December 2020, marking a 25-month run of domination. Hardware dollar sales reached $1.35 billion during December, up 38% year-over-year. Interestingly, PS4 was second in unit sales and PS5 was second in dollar sales.
On the software front, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War was #1; however, Switch has 15 spots on the Top 20 best-selling software for December 2020. While the Top 5 are all games that are not on Switch, the remaining spots are. We have New Horizons at #6, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #7, NBA 2K21 at #8, Immortals: Fenyx Rising at #9, Super Mario 3D All-Stars at #10, Super Smash Bros Ultimate at #11, Just Dance 2021 at #12, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity #13, FIFA 21 at #14, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe #15, Super Mario Odyssey #16, The Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild #17, Super Mario Party #18, Ring Fit Adventure #19, and Mortal Kombat 11 at #20.
