To celebrate Pokémon Day, Tsunekazu Ishihara, president of The Pokémon Company hosted a presentation to reveal what’s next for the ever-popular franchise.
The big announcement was the reveal of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. These new upcoming open-world adventures will feature a new region with new Pokémon. They are the start of generation 9 and will release in late 2022.
It was also revealed that the recently released Pokémon Legends: Arceus will receive the Daybreak update (Ver. 1.1.0) This update is about investigating strange mass outbreaks of Pokémon around the region. New Pokémon battles will also be available at the training grounds. The presentation even shared a password that you can enter in the game’s Mystery Gifts menu to receive a special gift.
Here are various other announcements from the presentation:
- Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl players can now claim an item called “Oak’s Letter” as a Mystery Gift.
- Alola region Pokémon will arrive in Pokemon Go on March 1, 2022.
- Pokémon UNITE has new full-fury battles that let you fire off your Pokémon’s moves over and over, making each battle incredibly intense. The Mythical Pokémon Hoopa has also joined the game, and during the Pokémon Day event, all players can try out Hoopa by using a limited license. Duraludon will also arrive in the future.
