After a one year delay, the chaotic battle royale not only has a release date, but also is now going free-to-play.
Since being announced in early 2021, the status of the delayed Switch version for the popular battle royale went quiet; however, the developer finally has news to share. Mediatonic Ltd. has announced that Fall Guys will be going free-to-play on all platforms when it finally launches for Switch on June 21.
Mediatonic stated the following:
“Hello, bean fans. We’re so excited to share that soon you’ll be able to play Fall Guys for free on all platforms—including the introduction of Nintendo Switch™, Xbox™ and the Epic Games Store™!
Since Fall Guys first hurtled into the world in August 2020, we’ve come together for six Seasons of stumbles, united in a ridiculous quest for the Crown. Through jungle-dome japes by way of Medieval mayhem. From Custom Lobbies hype to that very first Squad win with your pals, we couldn’t have done any of this without the support, dedication and compassion of our incredible community.
From June 21, we’re welcoming more players than ever before to the Blunderdome to compete for the Crown – and we’ve been working hard behind-the-scenes to make sure that everyone enjoys the same great Fall Guys experience no matter where you play.”
Since Fall Guys is going free-to-play, an optional season pass was also announced. Season 1 will unlock 100 levels at launch and earn new costumes. Mediatonic also mentions that all versions of the game (Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store) will have support for cross-play, cross-platform parties, and cross-progression by using an Epic Games account.
Fall Guys launches for Nintendo Switch on June 21.
Dave’s first Nintendo platform was the GameCube when he was age 7; however, he was introduced to Nintendo through Duck Hunt on NES.
