The free jump-roping game/application, developed by Nintendo while working from home will continue to be sold.
This comes from the official Nintendo Twitter which issued the following notice: “Thanks to all players of #JumpRopeChallenge for recording 2.5 billion total jumps! As new jumpers are joining, the free download will be available until further notice and will not be removed from Nintendo #eShop on 9/30.”
The game was originally announced as limited release, but it is assumed that the number of downloads and player hours was more than Nintendo realized it would be. The Jump Rope Challenge IP could be leveraged in other forms.
