Did Nintendo just leak a sequel to a spin-off Kirby game?
It looks like someone at Nintendo accidentally hit a button because a new Nintendo-published briefly appeared on the Play Nintendo section of the official Nintendo website. Luckily, Kotaku was able to capture a screenshot before Nintendo removed it.
It was priced at $19.99 and had the following description: “Choose from a cast of Kirby’s most iconic copy abilities—including the brand-new wrestler ability—and duke it out to be the last Kirby standing. Familiar friends and foes like Bandana Waddle Dee and King Dedede also make an appearance as playable characters in the Kirby Fighters 2 game, available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system.”
Judging by its price it will most likely be an eshop-only release like its predecessor and Kirby spin-offs overall in the past six years. Currently, the only Kirby spin-off on Switch is Super Kirby Clash.
Kirby Fighters was originally a Super Smash Bros.-inspired side mode in 2014’s Kirby Triple Deluxe. The mode would later get a standalone eshop game called Kirby Fighters Deluxe in August of that same year. It has a Metacritic of 66.
Dave’s first Nintendo platform was the GameCube when he was age 7; however, he was introduced to Nintendo through Duck Hunt on NES.
