Min Min Coming to Smash Bros. Ultimate on June 29, 2020

Mr. Sakurai appeared from his own home this morning to present the latest new fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We knew the character wold be from ARMS, but until today, we didn’t know who it would be. Sakurai considered most of the characters, but finally decided on Min Min. After a great anime-inspired intro, we were treated to the announcement that Min Min has “armed herself for battle.”

Since ARMS is a fighting game, her attacks are about as you would expect, even allowing you to control which arm goes first in a Smash Attack. While one arm will always be the dragon, you can change her other arm with her Down Special from a Ramram to a Megawatt to a Dragon. Each have different styles of attacks, reach, and power. You can even power up your arms, similar to how it happens in ARMS. Her Final Smash is the ARMS Rush, where all of the ARMS characters rush the stage to attack your opponent.

“Min Min from ARMS marks the first of six exciting new fighters joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster through Fighters Pass Vol. 2broadening the diversity of unique fighters available to players,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “As our support for the game continues through regular updates and DLC, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate remains the premier destination for video game fans to battle it out alongside many of the most iconic characters in video game history.”

Spring Stadium will accompany Min Min, giving you a fairly simple but great looking ARMS stage to fight. The side panels will move from flat to about a 20% incline throughout the fight.

There will be 18 songs added, as well, with he purchase of Min Min:

  • ARMS Grand Prix Official Theme Song (new arrangement)
  • Spring Stadium
  • Ramen Bowl (new arrangement)
  • Ribbon Ring
  • Ninja College
  • Mausoleum
  • Scrapyard
  • Cinema Deux
  • Buster Beach
  • Snake Park
  • DNA Lab
  • Sky Arena
  • Via Dolce
  • Temple Grounds
  • Sparring Ring
  • [NAME REDACTED]
  • Vs. Hedlok
  • ARMS Grand Prix Final Battle

Like other new characters, Min Min seems to be very powerful. It will take some time to figure out her moves and also how to combat them in battle.

Min Min will be available on her own and as a part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 starting June 29, 2020. On her own, she is $5.99 US. The Fighter Pass Vol. 2 will cost you $29.99 US, and it will eventually include a total of six characters.

On top of all this, on , you can get a Ninjara (ARMS), Heihachi (Tekken), Callie (Splatoon 2), Marie (Splatoon 2), Vault Boy (Fallout) Mii costumes for $.75 each starting on June 29.

There are also adding some updates to Spirits Mode. In addition to several new challenges, if you have certain Mii costumes, those characters will pop up in some stages. They are also adding a replay mode for Spirits.

Of course, there will be new amiibo figures. Joker and Hero, previously released DLC characters, will be available this fall.

With the announcement of Min Min, the roster of fighters available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now 81. Did you ever think we would have that many fighters in a Smash game?
