Nintendo Switch is off to a great start for the second quarter of 2022.
While PS5 led in dollar sales, the NPD reports that the Nintendo Switch led the month of April in unit sales. Because of this, Matt Piscatella of NPD reveals that the Switch has now surpassed the lifetime sales of the PS4 in the United States. It is now the 4th best-selling console in U.S. history (behind the PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii).
For software, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga took #1 spot of the Top 20 and on each of the three platforms. For Nintendo-published software, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the highest at #4 while the rest of the Top 20 is as follows: Nintendo Switch Sports debuted at #5 (despite only releasing on the 29th), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is at #8, Pokémon Legends: Arceus at #10, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at #14, Animal Crossing: New Horizons at #16, and Mario Party Superstars at #18. Third party Switch software includes the aforementioned Skywalker Saga at #1, MLB: The Show 22 at #3, Minecraft at #11, and FIFA 22 at #12.
