You can now try the new version of Pikmin 3 for no extra cost.
Following the conclusion of the Treehouse Live for Pikmin 3 DX, a demo for said game was announced for release. Similar to many Switch game demos like Dragon Quest XI S and Daemon X Machina, this demo features save-data transfer with the full game. If you complete this demo, you get immediate access to the new “Ultra-Spicy” difficulty mode and “other perks” in the full game. This version of Pikmin 3 features difficulty for newcomers and veterans to the Pikmin series. The Treehouse Live also demonstrated the use of gyro controls which try to bring back the days of controlling with a Wiimote.
Why not try the demo to see how the controls work? It can also be downloaded here.
Pikmin 3 DX was revealed in August as a trailer drop on several Nintendo social media channels. The Pikmin series began in 2001 on Nintendo GameCube with Pikmin. It was then followed by 2 sequels being Pikmin 2 for GameCube in 2004 and Pikmin 3 for Wii U in 2013. Both Pikmin 1 and 2 were re-released for the Wii as part of the New Play Control! line. The most recent Pikmin release was a 2D side-scrolling spin-off called Hey! Pikmin for Nintendo 3DS in 2017.
