The Nintendo Switch event just wrapped up in Tokyo. They covered so much information, including a host of games, but one they omitted until the very end was possibly the most anticipated — The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
After witnessing some amazing gameplay videos, we were teased many times before the date finally popped up on the screen — March 3, 2017. Zelda will officially be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately, they did not mention anything about the Wii U version. It may come out the same day, at a later date, or it could be scrapped altogether. We will keep looking into this and update it if we find out.
UPDATE: We have confirmation that the Wii U version will also be available on March 3.
As we have stated before, the game will work with the Zelda 30th Anniversary series amiibo, the Wolf Link amiibo (to be re-issued on February 3) and the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild series amiibo. In addition to Link (Rider), Link (Archer) and Guardian amiibo, Zelda and Bokoblin amiibo will also join The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild series amiibo.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be available as a standard edition, Special Edition and Master Edition. The Special Edition will include the game, a Switch Sheikah Slate Carrying Case, Sheikah Eye Collectible Coin, Relic of Hyrule: Calamity Ganon Tapestry and Weather-Worn Map, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sound Selection CD for a suggested retail price of $99.99. The Master Edition will have all of the items from the Special Edition plus a Master Sword of Resurrection figure. This will cost a cool $129.99.
As you wait for the game to launch, here are some new screenshots and boxart!
