Masahiro Sakurai celebrates the ninth anniversary of the polarizing and beloved 3DS game on Twitter, but don’t expect anything to come from it.
Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, likes to bring up game anniversaries on his Twitter and he, as expected, brought up Kid Icarus Uprising, a game he directed. Unfortunately, he says that a sequel or remake would be difficult.
His post translated to: “2012 ‘Kid Icarus: Uprising‘ released today!! We have received many requests for sequels and remakes, but it will be difficult…The new design of the pit is a spin-off of the one made with ‘Smash Bros. X‘”.
Kid Icarus: Uprising released in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS and was the first new Kid Icarus game since 1991’s Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. This is not the first time Sakurai was asked about Kid Icarus: Uprising as in an interview with EDGE, he said a port would be “impossible.”
Dave’s first Nintendo platform was the GameCube when he was age 7; however, he was introduced to Nintendo through Duck Hunt on NES.
