The app that launched with Splatoon 2 back in 2017 will have one of its features retired.
Nintendo has announced that the Online Lounge feature for Splatoon 2 will be no more, starting on July 28. The app feature allowed Splatoon players to arrangeĀ online battles by sending a URL link that allows social media friends to join a room.
The support page reiterates that you can start a local or online multiplayer without the Online Lounge feature and continue to voice chat with friends. Interestingly, it says that “no other changes to game-specific services will be made to the app at this time” implying that other features of the app could be discontinued in the future.
