For anyone that watched the Switch presentation and following live stream from the Treehouse on Friday, you may remember they announced that there will be a Fire Emblem Direct. The official press has reminded us that it will be on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET). This is a Nintendo Direct presentation focused on upcoming Fire Emblem titles.
I for one am excited about this. If you watched our Game of the Year podcast, I gave high (really high) marks to Fire Emblem Fates. I spent tons of time going through all three versions of the game, so I am looking forward to new titles. Out of the gate, we can expect one upcoming title to be Fire Emblem Warriors, which was announced during the Switch presentation and already promised fans to look for the Nintendo Direct. Since there is no mention of the device or console that these games are centered around, I think it is safe to say we will finally see what the iOS and Android version of Fire Emblem will look like. This was previously announced to release in September 2016, but Nintendo pushed back to Q1 of 2017 in favor of Super Mario Run. Finally, I think it is also safe to think there will be a third title, and this would likely be another mainline title. The question of where it will go is completely uncertain. Would it join Awakening and Fates on Nintendo 3DS? Or perhaps be a final straw for Nintendo Wii U? Maybe it is going to be on Nintendo Switch, and launch later this year, or early next year. Join us as we watch the latest Nintendo Direct, completely focused on one of my favorite series, Fire Emblem!
