With the launch of Ver. 2.0.0 of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate on January 29, multiple changes have been made to the game.
Obviously the largest piece of news is the addition of Piranha Plant to the playable roster for those who have purchased and registered the game. This free addition will remain accessible to purchasers of Ultimate until January 31 (a few hours from the time of writing), at which point the only way to receive this fighter will be through a purchase that will be made available sometime in the future.
For those who already downloaded this new combatant, be sure to steer clear of All-Star mode, as some reports have surfaced of a glitch that affects the game’s save files. Hopefully Nintendo addresses and patches this issue soon, but until then, players should be wary.
In other patch news, spirits that were added as rewards for having save data from other games (partner Pikachu/Eevee from the Let’s Go games, for example) ,are now available in the shop. This, thankfully, means that completing the spirit collection does not require the purchase of another game.
Aside from this, the patch includes several balance changes, a new calculation method for the Global Smash Power rankings, multiplayer battles in Spirit Board, and general bug fixes.
Only the time will tell how these changes affect the metagame, but for now, we all should enjoy our new floral combatant.
